Sallie Mae Fights Hunger With Million Meal Movement

On June 28, 2017 Million Meal Movement visited the Indianapolis location of Sallie Mae for a meal packing event. About 120  employees gathered around our tables for their first in-house service project.

Philanthropy and corporate citizenship is an important part of company culture at Sallie Mae, and the company encourages its employees to improve their communities with donations of time, talent and money. What better way to improve the local community than by providing meals to Hoosiers in need?

Summer is a difficult time for food banks and pantries. School is out, which means there is an increased need for breakfast and lunch among school-aged children. Combine this need with a drop in donations during the third quarter and shelves can get empty fast.

Sallie Mae employees helped fill the gap during this time of great need by packing 29,592 meals. These meals were delivered to the Evansville, Indiana area. Thank you for helping us fight hunger at home!
