Why Mac & Cheese?
When we asked our food distribution partners and pantries around Indiana what type of meals are in demand, the overwhelming answer was Mac & Cheese. With that in mind, we’ve been hard at work developing our own version.
These dinners are an appealing alternative to the traditionally available boxed macaroni and cheese dinner. They’re familiar, comforting, and a favorite of both kids and adults alike, which is important to us as we think about those we’re serving. They’re easy to prepare on a stovetop or in a microwave, requiring only water to cook. Meals should be more than just calories, and so we fortified ours with calcium and vitamin D for additional nutritional value.
Okay, but how does it taste?
We refused to settle for just any Mac & Cheese – it needed to taste great! After testing batch after batch, we finally found the perfect blend of taste and nutrition in our fortified cheese powder and high-quality noodles. Still, we needed feedback from the pickiest of taste-testers: kids! Our Mac & Cheese Dinner was a hit. Here are just a few comments:
