Guidelines for Safe Meal Packing Due to COVID-19

Packing Safely During COVID

Hunger relief organizations like the Million Meal Movement are an essential service to the community, allowing volunteers to do the work our community desperately needs. If you feel comfortable participating in small group activities, we need your helping in getting meals to food-insecure Hoosiers. Here’s what we’re doing to make our meal packing events a safe environment for giving back:

We’re following strict guidelines for social distancing and personal protection measures at our meal packing events. Million Meal Movement is operating under a “Bring Your Own Mask” policy. We require everyone to wear a medical-grade or fabric mask to volunteer. The Million Meal Movement will provide gloves. A hand-washing station is provided for all participating, and commonly touched surfaces will be properly sanitized by staff before and after each volunteer shift.

We’re keeping our packs small  to allow for proper social distancing between participants. NOTE: In order to operate efficiently, packs with less than 5 people signed up will be canceled.

Million Meal Movement is asking anyone with serious chronic medical conditions (heart disease, diabetes, lung disease, etc.) to remain at home during this time. Please stay home if you are not feeling well. We’d be happy to host you at a future packing event!
