As it usually happens here in Indianapolis, the month of May raced right past us! It was a busy month for Million Meal Movement in our race to fight hunger at home.
In just a few weeks we’ll be headed to the ballpark! Our fundraiser with the Indianapolis Indians is right around the corner. On Thursday, June 29 at 7:05 pm you’ll find us at Victory Field, watching the Indians take on the Durham Bulls. Maybe we’ll be partaking in one of the featured brews from Sun King since Thursdays are Craft Beer Night. Million Meal Movement receives $5 from every ticket sold through our Indianapolis Indians Fundraising link (use password million to unlock the offer). Do you have your tickets yet? If not, get them today – tickets are limited!
Employees from TriMedx joined us for pack, with employees from all over the United States helping. Together they packed enough meals to feed 48,000 Hoosiers.
The participants in our May Community Pack helped serve 1064 local families with just a couple hours of their time. Participants included Kohl’s Westfield employees, Indiana MENTOR, Kim Morgan, Lisa Sapper and these awesome kids from Trinity United Methodist Church Reach (a.k.a Team Super Scooper)!
We wrapped up the month with a very special experience. We were honored to be one of the 287 nonprofits across the US that Charles Schwab partnered with during their 14th annual community outreach project. Thirty Indianapolis-area Schwab employees packed 12,000 meals as part of Schwab Volunteer Week, feeding 48,000 people right here in Indiana.
As we head into summer, it’s important to remember that this is a time of vital need for kids. Many of the kids we serve depend on the breakfasts and lunches they receive at school to keep hunger at bay. When school is out, these kids struggle with food insecurity. Please consider making a donation, and we’ll deliver meals to local food pantries that serve these kids and their families.
Thanks for following the Movement each and every day!
