Community Meal Pack Registrations Open for 2018

We’re excited to announce that registrations for our Community Meal Packing Events are now open for 2018. Join us on the third Saturday of every month (except for October, when we focus on the Million Meal Marathon) to make a difference for hungry Hoosiers. (Note: November’s Community Pack is held on Thanksgiving morning.)  This positive, hands-on experience is family-friendly and engaging for kids aged 6 and up. Visit our Calendar Page to sign up today!

Community Meal Packs Frequently Asked Questions

Young child volunteering

You say the meal packs are appropriate for ages 6 and up. What, exactly, can my kids do at a meal pack?

Kids are always welcome at our meal packs, and we really encourage you to bring the whole family! Younger children can easily scoop and pour meal ingredients. We’ve been known to make impromptu step-stools out of rice bags so even the littlest hands can reach. Young kids can also help line up the sealed meals and place them in boxes. And, of course, sometimes our boxes need a little extra decoration!

Million Meal Movement Box

How much does it cost to participate?

  • $25 per child under 18
  • $35 per adult
  • $60 per family of 4

We use the participant fees to pay for the cost of the ingredients in the meals.

I want to bring my youth group/scout troop/sports team to pack. Do I still pay the same rate?

We offer a group rate of $20 per packer for youth groups of 10 or more.

Youth Group Volunteers at Million Meal Movement

What if my group is too large, or I want to pack with my company?

We reserve spots at our Community packs for kids, families and small groups that might not have the resources or opportunities to participate in a private pack. Therefore we encourage large groups and corporate groups to sponsor a private pack. You can pack at our warehouse or we can come to you. How long does the packing event last?

Two hours (9-11 am)

How many meals can we expect to pack?

We cap attendance at our Community Packs at 50, with a goal of packing 15,000 meals total.

Do you need volunteers to help out at the Community Packs?

Yes! We are always looking for non-packing volunteers to help out at our Community Packs as well as our private packing events. There’s no fee to participate as a non-packing volunteer. Visit our M3 Crew Information Page to find out how you can help.
