We’re starting a new monthly series here on the Million Meal Movement blog called Follow the Movement. It’s our chance to wrap up the previous month and share some highlights with you.
We kicked off April by traveling to Bloomington, where students from Indiana University Hillel packed meals as part of the Isrealpalooza event. You can read more about this event in the Indiana Daily Student.
Once again our monthly community packing event was a big success. We welcomed Kohl’s Westfield employees, AFS International Youth Exchange Organization, the Wisdom Builders homeschool group, Sand Creek Intermediate Student Council, and the Weishaar and Warneke families.
The meals packed in April alone will be enough to feed nearly 100,000 families right here in Indiana. Meals were delivered to Hoosier Hills Food Bank, who will distribute it to the families they serve in and around Monroe County.
Million Meal Movement employees Shane and Molly also delivered meals to Popsie’s Pantry, a local food pantry run by the Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis and Jewish Family Services at the Rueben Center. They spent some time volunteering at Popsie’s Pantry. We’re so grateful for the work our community partners do, and we’re always looking for ways in which we can give back to them with our time and talents.
